He never engages with people learned on the issues he’s debating. He’s like Bill Maher. Only debates when he knows he can win with smugness. I’ve never seen Harris actually take on Muslim academics or scholars on these types of important issues. And ironically I mentioned Maher above before even clicking on your link. So you already see my point it seems.
I've never seen Sam Harris or Bill Maher engage with anyone who views Palestinians as human being entitled to human rights.
It would be a huge service to their audiences to hear you explain the conflict.
If you're willing I think it would be a good idea to restack my post and tag them to invite them to talk to you. You should even be going on Real Time with Bill Maher!
Great discussion, gentlemen. I lean more to Qasim's side on this issue, but I liked that the discussion was civil and you each got to explain your beliefs and opinions. This is what public discourse is all about. It is absolutely crucial in a democratic republic. This is the complete OPPOSITE of what we are currently experiencing in THIS regime.
I'm very glad you were willing to discuss the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with a genuine human rights expert that holds the view that Israel is committing genocide
It's very important to hear the claims you made dissected. A lot of the mainstream narratives like
“Hamas wants their own civilians harmed"
This all started on 10/7
Israel is not deliberately attacking civilians
need to be met with scrutiny and correcting from an expert like Qasim.
This has been the most important and informative conversation I have heard on your platform so far. The clarity, eloquence and the truth spoken by both you and Mr. Qasim Rashid have been well received. Your dialogue needs to continue and broadcast to a larger audience. Thank you.
Stop military support to Israel! Sanction them severely! Israel has discriminated against Palestinians. Apartheid. Controlled their movement, refused to acknowledge beliefs, customs, culture. Joe, it IS a GENOCIDE. But Hamas is horrible. It has to go. Netanyahu does not want peace!
I disagree that Israel was the determining issue. I believe Democrats lost mainly because of immigration. And somewhat on the economy because Trump was making promises which of course he was lying about. Hilary tried so hard on universal healthcare, but Republicans ruined it. Make it a referendum & see what happens, although we need to see the plan first! I think the American public feels that the US government isn’t capable of accomplishing anything (and with good reason). That’s right - money out of politics. Create a campaign fund & every candidate gets the same amount of money to stage a campaign. No outside donations, no quid pro quo, no lobbyists. Netanyahu is a genocidal imperialistic warmonger. He is doing Trump’s dirty work. I bet he clears out Gaza & then they partner on building the resort. Israel was built by battling other countries & stealing their land. Gee, just like Putin. Remind you of anything? (Greenland, Canada?)
America is a democracy built upon the Constitution. Facist are not a good match for America. They need to move to Hungary.
Twitter is a sewer! It is filled with diatribes of vile lies & hate. I rarely look at it because it is full of projection & misinformation. It is so disturbing.
Qasim, you did a good job except on the all important Israel-Palestine issue. Suggest to see the recent interview by Tucker Carlson with Prof. Mearsheimer; talks by Prof. Jeffery Sachs; podcasts by Grayzone; Electronic Intifada; Gideon Levy; Daniel Levy; Aaron Mate; Prof. Khalidi for detailed information on the issue. Mehdi Hasan has also debunked the Zionist talking points Joe was parroting verbatim.
Great interview. Drilling down would be a valuable exercise, both in showing people how to have a conversation around difficult topics, and the content, the history itself.
Thanks for the conversation, Joe. And I'm looking forward to doing this again in person and doing a deeper dive on Israel and Palestine.
Thank you to all for your comments and for staying engaged on these critical discussions.
I will be posting this tomorrow on my platform, Let's Address This with Qasim Rashid. www.qasimrashid.com/subscribe
Next you need to discuss the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with @Sam Harris

Give me Bernie, AOC. and Mandami!! I'm 82 years old and ready for reforming the Democratic party. getting rid of the old wood!!

Two of my favourite people. Honest, committed to justice, good folk
Yeah. Wow. He wants to uphold International Law. Shocking.
Simply brazen, that obeying the law thing.
This whole Democrats feeling threatened by him is ridiculous and frustrating.
Am I the only one that thinks it's trumpian? Anything that threatens me, my power, and my status quo I'm going to attack and destroy.
They do it with (mostly) more subtlety but the intent is the same.
It was good.
A right winger wants to buy it. Save it. Research it Joe
